There is no hint in the Amazon product description that this emergency radio has app control, but it does. The same Radio-C/Radio-CT app that I’ve enjoyed with other radios like the HRD-757 and Raddy RF75A, also works here.
Unboxing

That photo makes the manual appear bigger than it actually is: 4″ on a side.
Ready To Go
The HRD-908 comes ready to go right out of the box. It comes with a MicroSD card installed that includes some music. Here’s what greeted me:
What I did not expect was the Spanish Inquisition, nor did I expect what else I found on the MicroSD card: A firmware update file for the LiJiANi Rd239 radio. When the USB cable is connected to a Windows PC, the MicroSD card contents were shown:
Also, when plugged into Windows, it automatically becomes the computer audio output.
APP Control
I thoroughly enjoy this feature on other radios, especially ones without direct frequency entry. Tuning help is definitely needed on this radio because pressing down a tuning button does scan, but it stops on every signal, and no matter how long you hold it down, it moves at the same speed.
Another cool thing is the Time Service that automatically sets the time on the radio to the phone time. It also enables recording on the radio to the MicroSD card. It doesn’t provide direct frequency entry on Weather Band.
I’ll stop here and continue later with some performance observations.
