This was a Prime Day deal for $21.77. I ordered one yesterday (July 9). The price was just too low to pass up. And for proof of the deal, this is a snip from my Amazon invoice:

Perhaps others thought the same because today there are only 17 left in stock and although it is still Prime Day, the price jumped to $32.99.
It is essentially a multimedia player with a 7″ color screen, an MP3 music player, an MP4 video player, a Bluetooth speaker and a radio, supporting FM 87.5-108MHz , AM 520-1730 kHz, SW 4.75-21.95 MHz.
I think it is basically the English language version of the Sansui F51, which in turn is the large screen version of the Sansui F50 that I have. I should note that the F51 is now selling on AliExpress for over $60. they’re all powered by 3 18650 batteries (1200 mAh ones included). I’ve posted about the F50 before.
But look at this from Amazon — each listing from the same seller:

This radio is branded “ONGTEED” although the smaller Semier SM-617 is still “Semier.”
I bought this version because of the English-language buttons and support for the 10 kHz North American MW step. It’s an attractive device providing direct frequency entry and my favorite, a play/pause button that works on radio. Also the larger 16:9 screen should distort the videos and pictures less.
The F50 speaker is good but not the best I have. I’ll be looking to see what the larger one sounds like, compared to my tiny Jazmm 213.
I bought one other Semier radio some time back, and wrote about it here: Semier SM-838: Review before donation.
Ignore the Amazon product reviews for the Ongteed SM-616. They seem to be for some older radio that doesn’t even have a screen.
Arrives Sunday.
