XHDATA Launches Improved D-219

I bought the original XHDATA D-219 in February of 2023, gray, with a fixed 9 kHz tuning step on MW, topping off the MW band at 1620 kHz. I wrote about it: Ultra-bargain XHDATA D-219 AM/FM/Shortwave radio.

Then XHDATA, realizing that people in North America expect to receive all their local stations too, came out with a new version just for North America with 10 kHz MW spacing and a top end of the band set at 1710 kHz. I donated my old one to charity and bought a new one. There was a gray and a silver one. I still have the gray one.

Not to let sleeping dogs lie, XHDATA introduced a new color, green. I don’t see this on Amazon. It’s obviously not the North American version.

But now, some clever person at XHDATA did some math and realized that by changing the MW step to 1 kHz, and extending the band a bit, one radio could serve both markets. The new version comes in light green and white. Jay Allen thinks the green color is pretty.

XHDATA bills the new model for travelers who might want to use the radio in the east and the west. Will I be buying one? Apparently not:
